Sidney,NSW,Australia -Supply Chain -December 14, 2009: -- Linfox has been voted Australia’s most respected transport company in a poll carried out by BRW magazine on 460 of the country’s business leaders... On presenting the award to the trucking giant, BRW pointed out that the Linfox held the respect of other companies not due to it’s earning but the service it provided as well as its focus on safety and customer service... * Australia - NTC report card: 'Disappointing', failed to deliver

Canberra,Australia -Supply Chain, by Brad Gardner -December 14, 2009: -- The National Transport Commission (NTC) should be given more powers to improve transport reforms in the wake of “disappointing” efforts so far, according to a review of the independent body... A team led by the former director-general of Queensland Transport, Bruce Wilson, says the NTC has struggled to deliver seamless reforms because of a failure to take into account political issues that jurisdictions must resolve during implementation... According to the review, only five of 15 reforms were implemented nationwide, three were introduced with a high level of consistency, while only three met the original timeframe... While saying jurisdictions must also share the blame for failed reforms, the review recommends the NTC’s role be expanded to working with jurisdictions to develop implementation plans to ensure potential barriers are addressed... The review team was appointed by the ATC in January this year. The NTC, which reports to the ATC, was established in 2003 when the National Road Transport Commission was expanded to cover rail and intermodal transport... * Australia - Police take to skies to bust speeding truckies


Sidney,NSW,Australia -ATN -December 14, 2009: -- Police in NSW will this week launch a fixed wing plane to target speeding and fatigued drivers during the Christmas period... Starting from December 18 and running until January 3 next year, Operation Safe Arrival will monitor driver fatigue from above... Commissioner Andrew Scipione says the plane is equipped with a device that measures the time taken for a vehicle to travel between special lines marked on the road by the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA)... “Road users should know, police are now everywhere targeting speeding – even the sky”...
