Truck Inspections * USA - Surprise held on I-84 for safety reasons
Fishkill,NY,USA -The Poughkeepsie Journal, by Larry Hertz -December 11, 2009: -- As Donald Wilson, drove a Bottini Oil truck through a toll booth on the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge on Route 84 Thursday morning, uniformed state troopers directed him to a parking area off the highway... The troopers checked the fuel oil truck's tires, brakes and lights, inspected Wilson's log book and asked him some questions about his cargo... The Bottini tanker was one of 33 commercial vehicles intercepted and inspected at the bridge Thursday in a six-hour operation conducted jointly by state police and officers from the federal Transportation Security Administration. One truck was impounded after police discovered the driver had a suspended license and the truck had failed a safety inspection... TSA spokesman, Thomas Guglielmo, said his agency works routinely with state and local police across the country to get unsafe trucks, or their drivers, off the road...
