INSPECTIONS * USA - State cuts dozens of police inspector jobs
Indianapolis,IND,USA -Eyewitness News, by Richard Essex -Dec 08, 2009: -- About 40 state police employees will lose their jobs at the end of the month as a result of job cuts by the state... These are the members of the Indiana State Police that do not carry a gun. Most of the time they are under school buses... The inspectors also walk around semi trucks checking tires and lights... On the road they are know as the inspectors. Indiana State Police currently has 83 motor vehicle inspectors. However, on January 1st, that number gets cut in half. The reduction is the product of a faltering economy... According to the Indiana Motor Truck Association, Indiana has some of the safest roads in the nation. Some of the credit goes to the motor carrier inspectors... In the late 1980's, there were more than 190 full-time inspectors. This round of cuts will leave 41... Indianapolis,IND,USA -The Trucker -11 Dec 2009: -- Indiana State Police officials say the state will maintain its current level of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED) activities despite the loss of 42 jobs in the unit... The layoffs, which are effective Dec. 31, follow the November dismissals of 33 employees in the Indiana state Department of Administration and are the latest steps the state is taking to make ends meet as revenues continue to fall short of expectations...
