* Sweden - Volvo’s October Deliveries Drop But Orders Show Improvement. Regional Decline Bests Global Downturn of 41%

Gothenberg,Sweden -Transport Topics -18 Nov 2009: -- Volvo AB said Wednesday its North American deliveries fell 28% in October from a year ago, but said orders rose from September... North American sales for the month fell 1,755 units from 2,443 units a year ago, the company said in a statement... The majority of the truck operations noted an increase of deliveries in October from September, and for the Volvo Group in total the increase was 12% from the previous month, the company said... Total truck unit sales worldwide fell 41% to 13,050 units from a year ago, led by a 70% decline in the Middle East and a 71% drop in Eastern Europe... The Volvo Trucks brand fell 50% worldwide and 39% in North America, while Mack Trucks sales fell 24% overall and just 10% in North America...

* Austria - Owners of start-up Holland company aim to revolutionize the North American truck industry



Salzburg,Austria -Rapid Growth/Bob Hakken, Wingliner North America -November 19, 2009: -- Two Holland entrepreneurs are aiming to revolutionize the North American truck industry by introducing drivers to an innovative Austrian-designed truck trailer with side panels that lift up with a push of a button... Bob Hakken, 52, and Duke De Leeuw, 47, signed a deal this month with Wingliner International to become the sole distributors of Wingliner System kits for sale in Canada, Mexico and the United States. The start-up venture, Wingliner North America Inc., would produce and sell the kits used to transform new truck chassis into a Wingliner truck... Wingliner International was started in 1996 in Salzburg, Austria after Johann Strasser Sr. invented the Wingliner System.
