The sleeper is made from aluminum and composite material to save on weight. The 40-inch version weighs 100 lbs. less than industry average, while the 82-inch version saves 400 lbs...
* Freightliner Cascadia, 2010 Detroit Diesel DD13 demonstrated at US Capitol
Washington,D.C.,USA -Truck News -November 5, 2009: -- Freightliner and Detroit Diesel visited Capitol Hill recently with a 2010 Cascadia day cab and DD 13 engine with BlueTec selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology... The manufacturers were showcasing the 2010 emissions technology which will improve fuel economy for heavy-duty trucks while reducing air emissions. The demonstration was part of the Diesel Technology Forum Clean Diesel Power event... Company officials told lawmakers there that compared to an EPA07 engine, the BlueTec-equipped Detroit Diesel will reduce fuel consumption by about 11,500 gallons over an average lifetime, saving the operator about US$30,000 in fuel costs and at the same time slashing CO2 emissions by 124 US tonnes per truck and practically eliminating NOx... * FTR says truck, trailer industries are recovering
Nashville,IND,USA -Truck News -5 Nov 2009: -- Industry forecaster FTR Associates has declared that the North American truck and trailer industries have begun their recoveries... The findings were released in FTR’s North American Commercial Truck and Trailer Outlook. However, despite the promising signs, FTR warned that any significant freight growth is still not expected until 2010 with equipment orders to follow later in the year...
* ArvinMeritor’s 4Q Loss Narrows
Troy,MI,USA -Transport Topics -10 Nov 2009: -- Truck components maker ArvinMeritor said Tuesday its fourth-quarter loss narrowed and the company announced several executive appointments... The company lost $12 million, or 17 cents a share, in the fiscal quarter ended Sept. 30, compared with $153 million, or $2.12 per share, a year ago... Sales fell to $984 million, from $1.5 billion a year ago, though rose about 4% from the third quarter, the company said... For the full fiscal year, the company lost $1.2 billion, or $16.72 her share, compared with a loss of $101 million, or $1.40, the previous year. Sales fell to $4.1 billion, from $6.4 billion for the year...
