TRUCKMAKERS' NEWS * USA - Antitrust Lawsuit Trial Begins for Rivals ArvinMeritor, Eaton
Troy, Mich,USA -Transport Topics, by Dan Leone -22 Sept 2009: -- Transmission-maker ArvinMeritor Inc. on Sept. 14 had its first day in court with rival Eaton Corp., which ArvinMeritor said has monopolized the North American market for heavy-truck transmissions... The jury trial is the result of a 2006 antitrust lawsuit brought against Eaton by Meritor Transmission Corp., part of ArvinMeritor, and ZF Meritor, a former joint venture of Meritor and German transmission maker ZF Friedrichshafen AG... ArvinMeritor, Troy, Mich., alleged in court documents, “Eaton engaged in anticompetitive conduct to thwart Meritor’s transmission sales”... In its own court filings, Eaton denied those allegations and said it had broken no laws...
* Peterbilt Delivers Hybrid Truck to House of Representatives
Washington,DC,USA -Transport Topics -23 Sept 2009: -- Peterbilt Motors Co. said that it delivered the U.S. House of Representatives its first hybrid truck Wednesday... The truck, a Model 330, will carry furniture and office equipment for the House of Representatives, Peterbilt said... The Model 330 provides a 30% increase in fuel efficiency over a standard truck, while reducing emissions of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, Peterbilt said in the statement...
