* USA - Military Truck Contract Reduces Bankruptcy Risk For Oshkosh
Chicago,ILL,USA -Dow Jones -28 Aug 2009: -- Specialty truck builder Oshkosh Corp. (OSK) lowered its risk for bankruptcy by capturing a pair of large military truck contracts this summer that analysts say should sustain the company until demand improves for its construction vehicles... Oshkosh said Thursday that it won a five-year contract to build up to 23,000 medium-sized trucks for the U.S. Army. The initial phase of the contract will pay Oshkosh $281 million for 2,568 trucks starting late next year. Thursday's contract extends the surge in military truck orders Oshkosh received June 30 when it was chosen to build mine-resistant all-terrain patrol trucks... * India - Tata Motors Plans To Sell Another Light Truck Model
New Delhi,India -Dow Jones -28 Aug 2009: -- Tata Motors Ltd. (TTM), India's largest automaker by sales, said Friday it plans to introduce another light truck, smaller than its sub-one-ton Ace model to capitalize on demand for the vehicle... "There has been some demand for a product in that category and we are looking at developing one such model," P.M. Telang, managing director for Tata Motors' India operations, told reporters on the sidelines of an industry conference... The Ace, it's one of the highest-selling vehicles of Tata Motors... * USA - Hino names its price for 2010 engines
Novi,MICH,USA -Today's Trucking (CAN) -1 Sept 2009: -- Hino Trucks is the latest OEM to announce what the surcharge will be for upcoming EPA-mandated engines utilizing Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)... The medium-duty truckmaker says the emissions surcharge will be $6,700 per vehicle, which is in line with other mid-range diesel engines in the market... The infrastructure to efficiently distribute required Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) for SCR engines in rapidly being established, notes Hino...
* India - Mahindra Looking Again To Assemble Trucks In The U.S.
India -PickUpTrucks (USA), by Mike Levine -August 28, 2009: -- According to reports, Pravin Shah, Mahindra & Mahindra's executive vice president of international operations, told journalists in India today that the company is considering purchasing an assembly plant in the U.S. to build its Scorpio platform pickup trucks and SUVs that will be sold here starting next February. Shah said that such a move would make sense because Mahindra hopes to make the U.S. its largest export market... * India - MAN-Force Trucks targets sale of 4,200 trucks during 2009-10
Pithampur,Madhya Pradesh,India -WheelsUnPlugged -31 Aug 2009: -- MAN Force Trucks which is a 50:50 joint venture between MAN and Force Motors, has revealed that it is eyeing to sell 4,200 trucks during 2009-10, out of which nearly 3,000 would account for the domestic market. The joint venture rolls out commercial vehicles with a payload capacity of 16 to 40 metric tons at its facility at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh that has an annual capacity of 24,000 trucks... The company is also exploring the possibility of introducing buses for city operations in India through the joint venture, as revealed by its Chairman Hakan Samuelsson at the recent SIAM Annual Convention... Chicago,ILL,USA -MarketWatch, by William Spain -Aug 30, 2009: -- General Motors China and China FAW Group Corp. have established a joint venture to produce light-duty commercial vehicles in the world's fastest-growing automotive market, the companies said Sunday... The new 50-50 joint venture between will be based in Changchun, in Jilin Province, and will produce trucks and vans, along with some research and development, exports and after-sales support... The total investment in the deal is estimated at 2 billion yuan, or $293 million..
* Sweden - A colourful statement from Volvo
