* USA - Oshkosh wins $280.9 million Army truck contract
New York,NY,USA -MarketWatch. by Christopher Hinton -27 Aug 2009: -- Shares of Oshkosh Corp. soared 24% Thursday after its defense arm scored a $280.9 million contract with the U.S. Army to supply 2,568 medium-tactical vehicles and trailers, plus support and services... The contract muscled out rival BAE Systems, whose current vehicle contract with the Army runs through 2010. It also builds upon a July order from the U.S. Department of Defense for 2,244 bomb-resistant vehicles, valued at $1.05 billion... Initial test vehicle deliveries are planned for mid-2010, followed by production vehicle deliveries later in the year...
* Sweden - Volvo truck deliveries halved in July
Stockholm,Sweden -Monsters & Critics -Aug 27, 2009: -- Swedish heavy vehicle maker Volvo on Thursday reported a 54 per cent drop in year-on-year truck deliveries for July... In all, the group delivered 8,899 vehicles... The decline impacted all markets. Eastern Europe was the region where deliveries dropped the most, falling 88 per cent compared to July 2008, the group said... The Volvo group's truck operations include Volvo Trucks, Mack, Renault Trucks, Nissan Diesel and Eicher...
