Mobile,AL,US -WWLP/TV, by Derica Williams -26 Aug 2009: -- The driver of an 18-wheeler was heading from Arkansas to Florida when his trip came to a sudden halt. That's because he tried to fit his tractor trailer through the Bankhead Tunnel... The 18-wheeler was folded like an accordion after authorities said the driver tried to go through... The cab may have made it though, but the 13 1/2 foot high trailer had no chance of passing through the 12-foot high tunnel... Transportation authorities have sensors placed well before the tunnel that notify the driver their vehicle is over the height limit. When that alarm trips, lights start flashing red.
