TRUCKERS' NEWS * Australia - Women wanted for big rigs
Sydney,Australia -ABC Rural -27 Aug 2009: -- More women are being encouraged to take on road train driving as a career, to fill the shortage of truck drivers in outback Australia... An Alice Springs transport company says husband and wife teams are in particular demand to work in shifts, for express, long haul deliveries... Owner John Bilato says new technology now means there is very little heavy lifting required... "A lot of the line haul tasks and even the girl we had driving for us, she was doing side tipper work and they're not unhooking the trailers to tip," he says... (Picture from abc.net.au)
