* USA - Freightliner, Eaton Partner on Hybrid Truck. Vehicle will reduce fuel use, emissions by 30 percent
Portland,OR,USA -The Journal of Commerce Online, by John Gallagher -May 12, 2009: -- Truck maker Freightliner and drive train manufacturer Eaton have developed an electric hybrid delivery truck for the propane gas market... Freightliner’s M2e hybrid truck, equipped with Eaton’s hybrid electric drivetrain, was developed for Pennington Gas Service, which delivers gas to retail customers in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. The companies say the vehicle will reduce fuel use and emissions by up to 30 percent... The Eaton parallel electric hybrid system allows the truck to operate using the diesel engine alone, or in combination with the hybrid electric motor. The hybrid electric motor also provides additional power to launch the truck from a standing start, which will further improve fuel economy in high stop-and-go operations, the companies said... * Russia - Truck maker KamAZ resumes work after three-week halt
Naberezhnye Chelny,Tatarstan -RIA Novosti -May 12, 2009: -- Russia's largest truck maker KamAZ has resumed production, after a lack of orders led to a three-week halt, a spokesman for the truck producer said on Tuesday... "The main assembly line was halted on April 23 as KamAZ completed its orders for the month. Today KamAZ's main assembly line and all production units have restarted work," the spokesman said...
