Truckers Roll * USA - 370 trucks join up in 20th Make-A-Wish Mother's day convoy
Astonished at the number of people, drivers and spectators who support the annual Mother's Day Make-A-Wish truck convoy
Lancaster,CAL,USA -Intelligencer Journal/The Lancaster On Line, by LARRY ALEXANDER -May 11, 2009: -- Bitsy Strawser of Middletown was astounded at the number of people, drivers and spectators who support the annual Mother's Day Make-A-Wish truck convoy... "It's unbelievable," she said Sunday as she rode in the 20th annual convoy aboard the Rockvale Square trolley. "All this came about because of a little boy's dream to ride in a truck."... And Strawser should know. That little boy, who in 1989 wanted to ride in a big rig and talk to his sister Heather on the CB radio, was her son, Matthew.... Matthew and Heather, who both have a genetic neuromuscular disease, were part of that first convoy, which pulled out of the Lancaster Shopping Center parking lot with 44 trucks... On Sunday Matthew, now 34, and Heather, 32, were back as king and queen of the 20th annual event...
