The number of bankruptcies in the European road transport sector has doubled in the past year, according to the International Road Transport Union
Dublin,Ireland -HGV -20 May 2009: -- ... IRU General Delegate to the EU, Michael Nielsen, addressed Europe's transport attachés last week and stressed that the time to act to minimise the impact of the economic crisis on the road transport sector is now... Nielsen said that 140,000 jobs have been lost in the EU and the number of newly registered vehicles has fallen by 36 per cent while 72 per cent of companies expect continued reductions in jobs, turnover and profit margins...
