OVERLOADED * Philippines - Cagayan Valley tackles cargo trucks
Calitlitan,Aritao,Philippines -The Business Mirror, by Paul Atienza & TJ Agcaoili -12 January 2009: -- Officials in the Cagayan Valley region have urged agriculture traders and cargo truckers to enforce the anti-overloading law to save vital roads in the province... Reports from the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) Weigh Bridge Station in Brgy. Calitlitan in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya claim that of the 3,760 cargo trailer trucks passing along the Maharlika Highway that had been weighed last year, 2,942 were overloaded... To address the problem, Regional Director Eugenio Pipo of the DPWH, said the anti-overloading task force in Aritao has created a project that will apprehend violators of the law and serve as a source of information and data gathering...
