* Germany - Volkswagen to decide on trucks alliance in 2009
Berlin,Germany -Reuters , by Jan Schwartz; editing by Elaine Hardcastle -Nov 4, 2008: -- Volkswagen will decide only next year on forging closer cooperation among Scania, MAN and its own truck-making operations, VW Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn said on Tuesday... "No longer this year," he said when asked by reporters about the timing of such a move. He had said in July VW management would address the situation in autumn... VW is the biggest shareholder in both companies with a voting stake of nearly 69 percent in Sweden's Scania and almost 30 percent of Germany's MAN...
* India - Tata, others sluggish in Mumbai trading
Mumbai,India -The Detroit News (USA) -5 Nov 2008: -- Tata Motors Ltd. , India's biggest truckmaker, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. fell in Mumbai trading after reporting lower sales in October... Sales at Tata Motors slipped 20 percent, the steepest drop in at least four years, while Maruti sales fell 7 percent. Mahindra had an 18 percent sales dip. The companies announced the numbers in separate statements Monday...
