* Contrans sees bumpy road ahead but expects to keep on trucking
Woodstock,Ont,CAN -The Canadian Press -6 Nov 2008: -- Contrans Income Fund says the current level of distributions to its unitholders is appropriate and its board doesn't expect there'll be a need to suspend them in the foreseeable future... The freight hauler said fuel surcharges in the third quarter more than offset a decline in revenue from transportation services. Total revenue rose to about $129 million from $122 million, although without the fuel surcharges revenue fell to $104.6 million from $108.2 million... Net earnings and comprehensive income rose for the income trust rose to $11.4 million or 40 cents per unit, from $9.1 million or 32 cents per unit... Total distributions declared rose to $9.1 million from $9 million a year earlier... However, the Woodstock, Ont.-based transport-truck operator, said it does expect that it will be navigating a rough road ahead...
* USA - Quality’s 3Q Profit Slips
USA -Transport Topic -7 Nov 2008: -- Tank truck carrier Quality Distribution’s third-quarter net income was $720,000, or 4 cents a share, down from a profit of $1.5 million, or 8 cents, a year ago... Revenue rose 11.7% to $214.7 million, the company said late Thursday... Chief Executive Officer Gary Enzor cited “cost-reduction initiatives” as a reason for the profit in a “challenging freight environment”...
