Alberta is using thermal imaging technology to spot safety problems on transport trucks
Edmonton,Alberta,Canada -CBC News November 4, 2008: -- ... A special infrared camera, similar to the ones found on police helicopters, is mounted on a van parked in a commercial vehicle inspection stop. Every transport truck that rumbles by is examined by the camera... Inside the van are monitors where screeners can watch for overheating parts such as brakes, wheels and tires that can signal mechanical problems. An inspection team will then take a closer look...
