TRUCKMAKERS' NEWS WORLDWIDE * Japan - Hino to Assemble Trucks in Mexico

Tokyo,Japan -Jiji Press/Japan Corp. News -Aug 8, 2008: -- Hino Motors Ltd. said Friday it will join hands with major Japanese trader Mitsui & Co. to assemble medium- and heavy-duty trucks in Mexico... The companies will form a joint venture, Hino Motors Manufacturing Mexico SA, in Silao, northwest of Mexico City, to start production in July next year... The move will make Hino the first Japanese truck maker to go into production in Mexico... Hino will spend a total of 9.9 million dollars on the moves... Hino, which entered the Mexican market August last year, plans to sell 1,000 light-duty trucks imported from Japan in fiscal 2008 that ends next March... By adding medium- and heavy-duty trucks to its lineup, the company hopes to achieve annual sales of 3,000 units in Mexico as early as possible...
