SAVING MONEY * USA - Road Rangers reducing hours of operation and number of trucks

The Florida Department of Transportation's popular free roadside service is reducing hours and putting fewer trucks on the road because of state budget cuts

Fort Lauderdale,FL,USA -The South Florida Sun-Sentinel, by Michael Turnbell -August 27, 2008: -- ... On Oct. 1, it will shrink from 12 to 10 trucks on I-95, I-595 and I-75 in Broward. Starting Monday, the service patrol will go from seven to five trucks on Interstate 95 in Palm Beach County. The new hours will be 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays... Officials say 75 percent of past Road Ranger calls and 70 percent of crashes occur during the day on weekdays. But some drivers say they count on the service when problems can happen at the worst possible time...
