TRUCKS RECALLS * UK - Sees another 50,000 recalls

More than 50,000 commercial vehicles were recalled in the second half of 2007, one-fifth of which were heavy trucks

London,UK -Motor Transport/Road Transport, by Will Shiers -30 January 2008: -- ... Iveco was the subject of four campaigns, the largest of which affected 10,117 Eurocargos. There was a possibility that the contacts in the cab wiring loom may oxidise and cause overheating of the connector block. In the worst case scenario this might have caused a fire... And just over 3,000 Eurocargos needed their steering column shaft checked, and if necessary replaced, in order to prevent potential steering failure. The same defect and remedy resulted in the recall of 509 Iveco Stralis trucks. The exhaust silencer bolting mounts had to be checked, and where necessary replaced, on 151 Iveco Eurotrakker and Stralis models... A total of 3,358 Scania P- and R-Series trucks were recalled, and where necessary their track-rod end-clamp nuts and bolts were replaced. Another 1,293 other Scanias (various models) required attention to the mounting rail, which connects the 24v supply between the chassis and cab...
