* UK - Daf trucks records record year
London,UK -Commercial Motor, by Dylan Gray -11 December 2007: -- Daf Trucks in the UK has had a record breaking year in 2007 with 30% more orders than its previous best in 2005... MD Stuart Hunt says: "That won't reflect in our market share this year, which I expect to be slightly down on last year's level of 28.8% at about 27.5%... But it still means we will register some 90% more trucks than our nearest rival, and remain market leader in every significant truck market sector"...

* Germany - MAN benefits from credit turmoil
Germany -The Financial Times (UK) -11 Dec 2007: -- MAN is still expecting growth next year after record results due this year... The comments came as Mr Hakan Samuelsson, chief executive urged politicians across Europe to allow longer trucks to enable truckmakers to cut carbon dioxide emissions... Trucks in most European countries are allowed to be up to 18.5 metres long but Mr Samuelsson called for an extension to 25m. He stressed though that it was more about increasing length than increasing weight. "It doesn't have to be the 60 tonne gigaliners"... Mr Samuelsson said orders at MAN had risen 24 per cent in the first 11 months with revenues up 14 per cent - both slightly ahead of the nine-month level - on the back of booming demand for trucks in eastern Europe...
