TIRES * China - Tire makers invest heavily in
Tire makers are swiftly adding capacity in China, gearing up for the expanding domestic market and for exports

* Triangle Tyre Co., a domestic company, will increase annual production by five million passenger car tires in 2008. It makes 15 million per year now.
* Cooper Kenda Tire (Kunshan) Co. has started exporting passenger car tires. By the end of 2008 the company says its new plant will be making and exporting close to 3 million tires per year... The 50-50 joint venture of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. and Kenda Rubber Industrial Co. began tire shipments to North America a few months ago...
* Continental Tires of Germany, is also expanding in China... Continental Tires (Shanghai) Co. is planning to build a 150 million euro (1.64 billion yuan) plant in Hefei City in Anhui province. Tire production is expected to start in 2010. The plant will have a final annual capacity of 4 million tires, though, it will take some years to reach that, says Kreipe.
* Pirelli begins passenger-car tire production
Shanghai,China -Auto News, by Namrita Chow -12 Dec 2007: -- Pirelli Tyre Co.'s $100 million (741 million yuan) passenger-car tire plant began production Nov. 27... Daily production at the 70,000-square-meter site in Yanzhou, in Shandong province, is currently more than 5,000 tires a day, says Giuseppe Cattaneo, CEO of Pirelli Tyre Co. (China). The company also is based in Yanzhou... The plant has an annual capacity of 3 million tires, which it will reach by the end of 2008, Cattaneo says...
