INFRASTRUCTURES * USA - Border crossers welcome opening of expressway
San Diego,CAL,USA -The San Diego Union Tribune, by Anna Cearley -November 16, 2007: -- Some regular border crossers eager to make quicker trips to and from east Chula Vista and Otay Mesa expect the new South Bay Expressway will make life easier, even though they will have to pay for the convenience... Bernardo Andrade, an operations manager for a cross-border trucking company with offices in Otay Mesa, is one example. Andrade lives in Mexico, but frequently stays with friends and family in San Diego County. He says he'll use the toll road, which opens Monday, perhaps as often as twice a week for personal trips. He expects it will reduce the travel time by about 25 minutes each way... Andrade said it isn't as clear to him whether the road will add up to savings for his company's truckers, who move cargo into the United States. He said the company, Multimodal Esquer, will be testing the route...
