* For Labor Day, Bush Pisses Off Truckers On Both Sides Of The Border
USA -Guanabee.com, by Cindy Casares -4 Sept 2007: -- President Bush’s plan to open the American border to Mexican truckers this Labor Day weekend seems to be hated by all the people who do the actual trucking... Although the measure didn’t manage to get approval for this weekend, we’d like to congratulate Bush on his impeccable timing. Pissing off the blue collars over Labor Day is just what we need to get the last of the red states off his side. Happy Labor Day, everybody...
* Another US industry is about to be destroyed by outsourcing
USA -joewo.com/JoeWo Joe Wosik Blog, by Administrator -4 Sept 2007: -- Mexican long haul trucking within the USA will spell they end of the US Trucking Industry. A pilot program has been approved to see how it will go for one year but if the trucks from Mexico have no restrictions eventually then why can’t you hire a trucker from Mexico from a Mexican trucking company to drive from California to New York with your load…and back and forth and back and forth. This guy is paid way less than half of an American driver so won’t that be great for business? Um…what about all of the American drivers? Um…what about the safety issue? Also part of this deal is the port usage. So now the transportation from the ports to the US market is set up…what about Mexican ports? This is the next part of the puzzle to be outsourced. US ports are huge and they have a lot of good union jobs…Mexican ports have workers that make a lot less. Why would these companies unloading ships keep sending ships to US ports when they can go to West Coast Mexican ports that are now as easily accessible to the USA as US ports are?...

* Implementation of Second Phase of NAFTA Starts End of US Union-based Trucking, and Spells Doom for American Trucking Industry
USA -Constitutional Views and News Analysis blog - September 3, 2007: -- Now that the 9Th Circuit Court of Appeals has refused to stop the implementation of the initial stage of the Second Major Phase of NAFTA (the RIGHT of Mexican Trucks to travel throughout the entire US - regardless of how much they pollute, how dangerously maintained they are, what types of "loads" they're really carrying, and God only knows the driver-regulations that will be in place; but don't worry, our Government says they can monitor this); I believe we will see the decline and ultimate END to union-controlled trucking in America, and most likely non-union as well...
