* Kenya - New Axle Load Rules to Herald
Nairobi,Kenya -All ASfrica/The Business Daily, by Zeddy Sambu -10 September 2007: -- Transporters have warned of acute shortages of vital commodities, including petroleum products, when the government implements new axle load limit rules in December... They have, through industry lobbies, petitioned the government to push the implementation date for the rules beyond the December 1 dateline... The pleas appear to have been in vain with a committee already formed to ensure trucks with more than three axles will not ply Kenyan roads from the scheduled date... The move to ban four-axle trucks from local roads, is meant to curb overloading, a major contributor to the poor state of roads...Labels: trucks ban
