On Thursday night last week, trucks heading for the Imatra frontier station were stopped for the first time already on the four-lane portion of Highway 6 in Joutseno. The aim of the move was to avoid the trucks from blocking the highway in Imatra... * Iran Closes Border With Northern Iraq
Sulaimaniyah,Iraq -AP/The Guardian (UK), by YAHYA BARZANJI -September 24, 2007: -- Iran closed major border crossings with northeastern Iraq on Monday to protest the U.S. detention of an Iranian official the military accused of weapons smuggling, a Kurdish official said... Five border gates were closed starting Sunday night and continuing Monday morning, leaving travelers and cargo stranded, according to officials and witnesses...
