* Germany - VW commercial vehicle unit sales up 7.6 percent in first half of 2007
Frankfurt,Germany -Reuters -July 2, 2007 -- Volkswagen's commercial vehicles division increased sales to customers by 7.6 percent to a record 231,500 vehicles in the first half of 2007, it said in a statement today... The division's heavy trucks business in Brazil reported deliveries growing by nearly a quarter to about 21,750 vehicles, after selling 17,700 in the previous year...
* Germany - Daimler, Fiat Set Engine Technology Pact
Germany -Transport Topics (USA) /Associated Press -July 2007: -- Europe-based vehicle makers DaimlerChrysler and Fiat have signed an agreement calling for strategic cooperation to provide Daimler’s truck group with engine and powertrain technology from Fiat, reported... The first step of this agreement will be the long-term supply of light-duty diesel engines to the Mitsubishi Fuso Bus & Truck Corp. for use in major markets, including Europe and Japan, the two said in a joint statement...
* Germany - Mercedes-Benz Trucks Success Continues with Environmentally Friendly Diesel Technology
Frankfurt,Germany -Auto Spectator (USA) -3 July 2007: -- The DaimlerChrysler Truck Group has posted an outstanding number of orders for Mercedes-Benz Blue-Tec trucks... Customers from all over Europe have placed more than 100,000 orders for the vehicles since Mercedes-Benz became the world’s first supplier to introduce the innovative diesel system in early 2005... A total of 80,000 Blue-Tec trucks are currently on the road, with more than 95 percent of them already meeting the Euro 5 emissions limits that will take effect from October 2009...
* India - Ashok Leyland in joint venture with Finland's Alteams
Mumbai,India -Reuters -July 3, 2007: -- Ashok Leyland, India's second-biggest bus and truck maker, said today it had formed a joint venture with Finland's Alteams to make components for the telecommunication and automotive sectors... The equal joint venture, subject to regulatory approvals, will commence in 2007, with an initial investment of more than 1.75 billion rupees ($43 million), the Indian company said...
