Roadcheck * USA/Canada - Results from 2007's one

Indicate that there were some improvements, but that more needs to be done by the U.S. trucking industry in the area of driver and vehicle safety

Washington,DC,USA -The Trucker -18 July 2007: -- ... Results this year reflected increases in the number of drivers wearing safety belts and complying with hazardous materials regulations, according to the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CSVA), which sponsors the annual campaign...
Driver results for the vehicle types were:
All vehicles: 93.8 percent of drivers passed and 6.2 percent were placed out of service compared to 5.6 percent in 2006.
Hazmat: 96.5 percent of drivers passed and 3.5 percent were put out of service compared to 3.0 percent in a year ago.
Motor coaches: 96.2 percent of drivers passed and 3.8 percent were placed out of service, compared with 2.9 percent in 2006.
Vehicle results were:

All vehicles: 78.5 percent of vehicles passed and 21.5 percent were pulled out of service compared with 21.7 percent last year.
Hazmat: 82.3 percent of vehicles passed and 17.7 percent were placed out of service compared with 18.2 percent in 2006.
Motor coaches: 87.7 percent of vehicles passed and 12.3 percent were put out of service compared with 9.2 percent a year ago.
