TRUCKS MARKETS * China - New trend in heavy-duty trucks competition
Beijing,China -China Economic Net, by Fu Ze -17 July 2007: -- At present, EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) and related inspection techniques become mature, kilter and feasible, and the execution of environmental protection law is more standardized. Therefore, China's heavy truck market is facing a dual challenge in both technology and cost while foreign heavy truck enterprises and engine giants have been ready to attack the Chinese market... Of course, there is also a tremendous market opportunity for China's heavy trucks. The first reason is that the state's macroeconomic boom maintains strong upward momentum. During the first four months this year, China's total freight volume has amounted to 6.75 billion tons with an increase of 11.4 percent year on year, and among them, highway transportation reached 4.95 billion tons with an increase of 11.0 percent year on year. The total freight ton-kilometers was up to 3033.05 billion ton-km with an increase of 16.3 percent year on year and among them, the highway freight ton-kilometers reached 342.72 billion ton-km with an increase of 15.4 percent year on year. Meanwhile, China's constructive cars and highway trucks market will remain stable growth momentum in the following months this year and next year. The heavy truck demand will be pulled up by many national priorities, such as supporting the new rural construction, science & technology, education, culture, health care; promoting resource conservation, ecological construction, environmental protection and development of the western region; and the fully opening of domestic financial industry, etc. In addition, there is a dramatic advantage in the price of Chinese products comparing to foreign ones...
