* Italy - Navistar sought by German-Italian truck alliance
ROME,Italy -Reuters/Global Insight/Todays' Trucking (Canada) -4 June 2007: -- Rumors concerning a buyout of Chicago-based Navistar International began smoldering again this weekend as the head of Italian truckmaker Iveco said the Fiat-owned company was looking for a partnership with a North American OEM... According to Reuters, Iveco Chief Executive Paolo Monferino said he was in no hurry to ink a deal, but is considering a North American alliance for 2008... Analysts suggest Navistar and Iveco would make a good tandem because of their MD positions... A separate report speculates that German-based MAN could help the Italian manufacturer do just that... Global Insight, a economic and financial analysis firm, suggests that MAN -- which already has a joint strategic agreement with Navistar to collaborate on design, development, sourcing and manufacturing of diesel engines -- is willing to team up with Iveco to buyout Navistar... There were also reports last month that Navistar was looking at taking over GM's class 5 and 6 lineup and move away from the Ford partnership...
New Delhi,India -The Hindu -3 June 2007: -- Asia MotorWorks (AMW), based in Gujarat, on Saturday launched its 25-49 tonne capacity trucks in North India priced in the range of Rs. 15 lakh to Rs. 28 lakh. It has set a turnover target of Rs. 500 crore... The company, which manufactures commercial vehicles, also plans to set up a dealership and spare part shop in Delhi and NCR (National Capital Region) area to cater to the customers in Northern India. Frankfurt,Germany -Thomson Financial/Forbes (NY,USA) -3 june 2007: -- MAN AG's commercial vehicles unit MAN Nutzfahrzeuge unit predicts it will sell 100,000 trucks per year earlier than its 2010 target, reported Oberoesterreichische Nachrichten in an interview with board member for production responsibilities Lars Wrebo... 'We will certainly reach this target before 2010, and with our growth rates, it is possible we will reach the 100,000 mark in 2008,' Wrebo told the newspaper...
