Roadcheck 2007 * USA - One in 4 inspected trucks sidelined last week
Cleveland,OH,USA -The Plain Dealer/blog.cleveland.com, by Mark Puente -June 13, 2007: -- State Highway Patrol troopers and motor carrier inspectors sidelined 564 commercial vehicles and 109 drivers last week during Roadcheck 2007, a national effort that promoted 72 hours of inspections throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico... Officers inspected 2,025 commercial vehicles between June 5 and June 7 and issued 4,740 safety violations on Ohio roadways. The troopers and inspectors teamed with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to rid the roads of unsafe trucks... The most cited safety violations during the effort included unsafe brakes, tires and lights. Hours-of-service violations were the leading reason drivers were placed out of service. Four drivers were placed out of service for drug or alcohol violations, the patrol said...
