* Registered trucks in China: 525 Millions - Source: Schneider National - WHAT IT MEANS: With more than two million trucking companies working on the ground, "The road network is growing and evolving faster than people realize," says Janet Bonkowski of Schneider, which is eyeing the Chinese trucking market for acquisitions.

* Buyers reporting increases in transportation rates: 45% - Source: www.purchasingdata.com - WHAT IT MEANS: That's a decrease from the 50% the month before, but not quite as low as December's 44%. To put that number into perspective, in early 2006, 78% of buyers polled were reporting increases in freight rates.

* Predicted value of India's logistics market by 2010: $125 Billions - Source: Datamonitor - WHAT IT MEANS: The Indian logistics market is at an inflection point, as its current value is in the $90 billion range. A Datamonitor report shows strong demand for 3PL and outsourced logistics in India, as more buyers and manufacturers look to the market as a source of export.
