* European Panel Plans Limits on Emissions
Brussels,Belgium -The Houston Chronicle (Houston,TX,USA)/The Associated Press -Feb. 7, 2007: -- The European Commission on Wednesday proposed binding rules to force car makers to cut carbon-dioxide emissions from new cars sold in the European Union by 2012... The plan, which faces strong opposition from the car industry, foresees the drafting of new rules that will impose lower emissions limits of 130 grams of CO2 per kilometer, for new cars, and an increase in the use of biofuels and cleaner fossil fuels, meant to tackle global warming...
