* India - Tata Motors Profit Rises on Trucks, Exchange Gain
Mumbai,India -Bloomberg (USA), by Santanu Choudhury & Archana Chaudhary -Jan. 23, 2007: -- Tata Motors Ltd., India's biggest maker of trucks and buses, posted an unexpected 12 percent increase in third-quarter profit after demand for commercial vehicles rose and it had a foreign-exchange gain... Net income in the three months ended Dec. 31 rose to a record 5.13 billion rupees ($116 million) from 4.6 billion rupees a year earlier, the Mumbai-based company said in a release today. That exceeded the median net income estimate of 4.48 billion rupees in a Bloomberg survey of 15 analysts. It's the 15th straight gain in quarterly profit for Tata Motors...
