USA -Land Line Magazine, by Reed Black/XM Satellite Radio /The Associated Press -Jan 17, 2007: -- On Monday, snow and ice in western Texas forced the closure of a long stretch of Interstate 10, while scores of other state and U.S. highways throughout the state were also shut down as weather conditions made driving treacherous throughout much of the Longhorn State... For the most part, the rest of the nation is finally free of wintry precipitation... However, it was reported that in the aftermath of the storm, at least 54 people are dead in nine states – mainly from traffic accidents...
