Union says * Australia - Petrol prices impacting trucking industry
NT,Australia -ABC Online -Jan 18, 2007: -- The Transport Workers Union (TWU) is pushing for the ACCC to be given more powers in a bid to stamp out petrol gouging... The TWU says many trucking companies are on the brink of financial ruin because of the high cost of transporting goods... The union's Northern Territory spokesman, Alex Gallagher, says the effect of petrol profiteering by oil companies is having an enormous impact on the industry... A survey conducted by the union late last year shows about 90 per cent of the owner drivers in the trucking industry believe petrol profiteering is causing them financial stress...
