The world's fastest racing trucks, racing planes, racing the clock

UK -Biglorryblog -21 Nov 2006: -- It's no secret I find it hard to excited over truck racing---but trucks racing planes? I'd pay good money for that. This is Shockwave a triple jet-engined Peterbilt and you can read all about it on Les Shockley's Jet Shows truly awesome web site... Your man runs two jet trucks--the Shockwave triple engine and the Super Shockwave with two jet engines. Of the two the former is the fastest. It currently holds the quarter mile world record having stopped the clocks at 256mph/6.36 seconds PLUS, according to the Guiness Book of Records, the world record for 'full-size' trucks at 376mph. For lovers of trivia when ShockWave accelerates away from a standing start the driver is subjected to a 3G force---as much as a Space Shuttle taking off... Meanwhile, it seems as if racing planes with racing trucks is catching on as here's a shot of the Bandag Bullet Kenworth racer about to 'rotate'... The 8.0-tonne modified T400 tractor currently holds the world record for covering a kilometre from a standing start in 18.6 seconds with a top of over 300km/h. You can find more pictures and facts on the go-faster Kenworth by visiting the official Bandag Bullet website where there are some terrific night-time drag race warmup shots...
