* USA - Trucking company heads effort to study biodiesel
AMURBANDALE, Iowa,USA -The Sioux City Journal (Sioux City,IA)/AP -4 Nov 2006: -- A Fort Dodge trucking company will anchor a two-year study to gauge whether soy biodiesel can play an emerging role in the transportation industry... Decker Truck Line Inc. has agreed to use the alternative fuel in 10 of its trucks so researchers can analyze how the fuel compares to traditional petroleum-based diesel... Decker says the project, announced this week as the "2 Million Mile Haul," is the first comprehensive study to analyze and promote the benefits of soy biodiesel... The company has several partners in the study, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Iowa Central Community College... Decker has also partnered with the Iowa Soybean Association, the National Biodiesel Board, engine maker Caterpillar Inc. and Renewable Energy Group of Ralston, a company that develops biodiesel plants...
