Memphis,TN,USA -Memphis Business Journal -11 Aug 2006: -- The Tennessee Department of Safety discovered 115 safety violation on container trucks in three checkpoints recently... The Tennessee Highway Patrol's Homeland Security Hazardous Materials Checkpoints were held Aug. 9 in Knoxville, June 28 near Chattanooga, and June 27 in Manchester.... These were the findings and actions taken: * 5,084 trucks went through the checkpoints, resulting in the discovery of 115 safety defects, including a number of hazardous materials violations.... *312 trucks underwent detailed inspections.... * 19 drivers were placed out of service for logbook violations.... * Two drivers were removed for not having a commercial driver license.... * 17 trucks were removed from service for safety defects.... * Two trucks were removed for carrying contaminated seafood bound for the Nashville area....
