NEW YORK,NY,USA -Chron/The Associated Press -Aug. 9, 2006: -- Shares of trucking stocks stalled on Wednesday as investors worried about the direction of the economy and the impact rising oil prices might have on the transportation sector... Shares of Arkansas Best Corp. fell $2.23, or 5 percent, to close at $42.25 on the Nasdaq. Shares of U.S. Xpress Enterprises Inc. lost $1.82, or 8.2 percent, to end at $20.47, while J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. ended down 71 cents, or 3.5 percent, at $19.55... Chaz G. Jones, an analyst at Morgan, Keegan & Co., said investors are mindful that hurricane season is under way, that tensions continue to escalate in the Middle East, and that unexpected events like the shutdown of the Prudhoe Bay oil fields could cause a spike in diesel prices...
