HILLSBORO, Va.,USA -Associated Press/Daily Press -Jan 16, 2006: -- In fast-growing Loudoun County, law enforcement officials have been grappling with one of the consequences of development: unsafe trucks... As new residential and commercial developments pop up, speeding and overburdened trucks have become more of a problem, prompting local officials to weigh stronger penalties and even an outright ban in the town of Hillsboro... On average, at least 35 percent of trucks inspected at checkpoints by Loudoun deputies are too dangerous to be allowed to continue traveling, said Chris Rizzo, a county sheriff's deputy who has spent 16 years making truck inspections... notes that a car-on-car collision has about a 1-in-1,200 chance of causing a fatality, but a truck-on-car crash raises the odds to 1 in 9...
