Clean-air plan - USA - Lower speed limits for trucks could be in
Fort Worth,TX,USA -Fort Worth Star Telegram, by GORDON DICKSON -Jan. 06, 2006: -- Tractor-trailers and other large commercial trucks could be asked to abide by a lower speed limit than private vehicles on Metroplex highways, as regional leaders look for new ways to reduce air pollution, officials said Thursday... The lower speed limits -- perhaps 55 mph on a highway where cars may go 65 -- are among many options on the table, said Mike Eastland, executive director of the North Central Texas Council of Governments. However, he said such a change wasn't imminent and could be several years away.
