JACKSONVILLE, FL,USA -First Coast News, by Roger Weeder -27 Jan 2005: -- The Department of Transportation is taking notice of the truck accident that happened Wednesday in Lake Butler, killing seven children... Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta, who took part in truck appreciation events at Landstar, says in recent days there have been four major truck accidents across country killing 18 people... In Washington, the transportation department is the in the process of seeing how it can better prioritize "compliance reviews."... Mineta says the challenge here is that there are more than 700,000 trucking companies. Another 8,000 new companies he says are in the pipeline for review...
