But now a local company has devised a cunning lock for wheelie bins to thwart the scavengers... Meet industrial designer Retief Krige, from Stellenbosch... His invention is called the "binguard" and he calls it "bin access control" - because it is far more than just a simple lock... Baboons have become adept at overturning bins and spreading their contents far and wide in their search for food. So Krige set out to create a safe and practical locking mechanism...
