Oil prices - UK & France - Drivers keep trucking while others pressures oil producers
LONDON,UK -Business Day (Johannesburg,S. Africa) -15 Sept 2005 :-( Britain escaped a threat of public disorder over soaring oil prices yesterday, and France promised to get tough with oil companies that failed to trim prices fast enough... Fear of a repeat of the protests that nearly brought Britain to a standstill five years ago were unfounded as truck drivers carried on working and police ensured tankers delivered fuel... French Finance Minister Thierry Breton said yesterday that oil companies could do more to help people cope with rising prices, and he would meet large oil companies tomorrow... But the absence of major protests yesterday did not stop panicked British drivers from lining up outside filling stations...
