Stolen - USA - Gadgets help security, but woes persist

Technology foils some theft efforts

Automotive security experts don't mince words: The secret is making your car less attractive and less available than someone else's... In a survey this year by Westwood, Mass.-based LoJack, 81 percent of law-enforcement officials said car owners aren't taking the right safety steps... Consumers often hold out hope that stolen vehicles will be found quickly and returned. But the national recovery rate is 61 percent, according to the insurance industry... The exception: vehicles with LoJack's tracking system, where the recovery rate is better than 90 percent...
