Markets - USA - Acquisitions eyed as military contracts on steady pace
USA -AP/Post-Crescent -Sept 23, 2005 :-) Oshkosh Truck Corp. is pursuing company acquisitions as cash pours in from its military and emergency vehicle businesses... The maker of heavy trucks is flush with Department of Defense business stemming from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Total company sales for the first nine months of fiscal 2005 topped $2 billion, and nearly equaled sales in all of fiscal 2004... But unlike in the past, Oshkosh Truck is not as dependent on military sales. The company is spending millions of dollars to expand its Wisconsin plants that build fire and rescue vehicles, for example, and it has stepped up efforts in areas such as refuse trucks and cement mixers...
