Technology - Sweden - VOLVO Trucks Get on the Bus

Akron,PA,USA -Layover.com/Waikato Times/ProQuest Information and Learning Company -2005/08/11: -- Volvo is using bus technology in its latesttruck concept to make commercial vehicles more user-friendly... The Distribution Concept Vehicle (DCV) is a joint project between Volvo Truck, the Transport Research Institute in Sweden and transport company Schenker Akeri... The focus of the project is to make the distribution of parcels and goods more efficient and at the same time improve the working environment for drivers... The DCV has access to the cargo area behind the cab which makes it easier and more efficient to fetch small parcels... Entry and exit is from the driver's cab via stairs. Volvo says this improves driver safety and minimise the exposure of the driver to passing traffic... A low windscreen improves visibility. Front and side mounted rear view mirrors are supplemented by a camera for good visibility all around the vehicle...
