Ban - USA - Town fights to ban trucks on highway
W.Va. community residents say U.S. 522 dangerous, congested
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va.,USA -Pittsburgh Post Gazette (Pittsburgh,PA), by Vicki Smith/AP - Aug 14, 2005: -- Four decades ago, when someone made a movie about this small West Virginia town for a time capsule, the highway had the starring role... Making truckers drive farther raises costs for the firms that hire them, and Davidson believes the cost would be passed to consumers... "It's America, and everything we have comes to us by truck," said county Commissioner Tommy Swaim. "I don't understand how we can be so selfish to say we want all the things that come to us by truck, but go through somebody else's town, not ours"...
