"Go Green" * USA - Event Highlights Future Green Truck Fleet Possibilities
USA -Truck Trend. by Benson Kong -April 13, 2009: -- A collective of big, commercial-truck players, including Rush Truck Centers, Peterbilt Motors Co., Eaton Roadranger, Cummins Inc., Westport Innovations, and others, hosted more than 160 customers at a special "Go Green" event where the latest green trucks were put to the test... The 160-plus customers at the event represented truck fleets from around the nation, which accounted for more than 100,000 vehicles. Five Peterbilt green trucks were available for testing, alongside other hybrids and alternatively fueled trucks on display... The event enabled customers to learn more about upcoming green truck technology, including the likes of diesel-electric hybrids, diesel-hydraulic launch-assist vehicles, and compressed natural gas- and liquid natural gas-powered trucks. In addition to learning about green technology, customers heard about available funding sources that would assist in future green truck purchases... Purchase assistance is available from state and federal funding programs that include federal tax credits available under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and grant funding from the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act. Funding from DERA could provide up to 25% of the totaled quote price for new hybrid trucks...
